REDSTONE is difficult to apply a genre to, they have played everything from early rock and roll, to blues, pop, hard rock, progressive rock and punk. This line-up has been together for 12 months with CJ Woolbank as the founder of the group. The band has recently started to write and perform their own material with a view to recording their first album this year. T They also play some covers but give them the REDSTONE twist. CJ wrote their first song “Metagasco it’s a Fiasco” last year and the band first performed it for an Anti-CSG gig in Lismore. CJ and Marx are the song writing partnership of the band, with technical advice from Tristan. This group is particularly passionate about social issues facing us all and this is reflected in their songs. They have performed at a number of events to support the Anti CSG movement, perform regularly at local venues, private gigs and presentation nights.
REDSTONE have started to gather an enthusiastic band of followers at their gigs and on facebook. This year they have already played at the Richmond Valley Australia Day Celebrations at Coraki, with an estimated attendance of around 4 000 people. Their cover of the Australian classic “I was only nineteen” was a particular favourite of the crowd. With one radio broadcaster quoted as saying; “I never really liked that song before but that was brilliant”. REDSTONE also played at this years CRANKFEST on the Livewire stage. At this year's Mardi Grass the band performed twice on the Oasis Cafe Stage. As a result have been offered a place on the main stage by Mardi Grass organisers for next year. REDSTONE also participated in this years MAZSTOCK punk fest in June this year. They continue with their public gigs and are recording their first LP soon.
“We just want to play music the way it should be played, with passion and volume.”
